Regatta Report: SMC Women’s Interconference

This past weekend the Women’s team headed south to St. Mary’s Honors College of Maryland  for the SMC Women’s InterConference Regatta. We competed against 18 teams, battling against some of the best women’s teams in the nation including Yale, Boston College, Coast Guard, George Washington, and Charleston. Saturday we had puffy medium breeze coming out of the South and sailed until sunset. We finished the day in a solid 9th place overall.

Sunday the wind was light and had trouble holding and the forecast looked even worse. Despite this we were able to get off another 3 races in each division. Tufts took the lead bumping us back one spot. Ultimately our B division team, skipper Ava Esquier (’20) and crew Dana Hackett (’20) pulled through, finishing 5th overall in their division pulling us up into 9th overall in the final race. Lenox Butcher (’20) and Kristen Tilley (’19) finished 12th in a challenging A-Division.

Looking forward to our next women’s event at the Dellenbaugh Trophy at Brown!
